Awaken Your Inner Cowboy

Let go of safety, embrace the unknown, & let the universe guide you to a life of purpose and adventure.

WEEKLY MEDITATION

Feeling like “work-life balance” is a myth. It only exists when your work has no connection to your life. Every great man in history didn’t chase balance, they were obsessed with their craft. They didn’t separate their work from their life.

Their work was their life, aka their “life’s work.”

Balance is only necessary when the two things are in conflict. But when you find work that gives you life, you won’t need to balance them anymore.

THE VRILL BOARD

Aesthetics to increase your Vrill

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the Second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
- The Holy Bible, Matthew 22:37-39

VRILL INSIGHTS

THE COWBOY ARC

No more vacations. I’m on a mission. I will create a life where the concept of vacations doesn’t make sense, where retirement is as foreign to me as to tribal people. Heard of the famous trade-off between safety and freedom? You should erase safety and optimise for freedom. Let the cowboy in you out, become functionally crazy, let go and go.

All men are cowboys deep inside. We want to live free. We have this sense that we would dominate in an apocalypse. We don't wish for it, but if we could spend a couple of weeks in The Walking Dead, we would.

The hero’s journey is not metaphorical; it is divine. It is also unique to each individual. To find it, all you have to do is start. Leap into the unknown. Do the thing everyone is telling you not to.

Getting off the ground is the hard part. Committing to something when no one believes in you. Chasing an uncommon life when everyone around you, including yourself, is conditioned to be common. The allure of safety is pulling you back.

We are domesticated. But, I won't stay domesticated. I will break free and once again be wild.

In the beginning, you need to say no to almost everything. You need to lock in. You cannot stop until you are off the ground at the first stage of cruising altitude. Here is where the metaphor falls apart. You get the point.

What are you willing to give up to become who you are meant to be? A better question might be, What are you willing to forego to develop your relationship with God?

Do not limit yourself to what the marketing around what a "free" life is. Only you know what you ought to do. There are endless ways the cowboy archetype can be expressed. You need to find yours.

Deep inside you, the answers lie in wait ready to be revealed. It is only by walking your path that they will be revealed to you.

The universe will only guide you if you start walking. One step at a time. It doesn't matter how fast you walk as long as you never stop.
